Based on your responses, your primary “Posture Habit” is

THE “SLOUCH”

Read Below for an explanation of The "Slouch" posture habit and how it's impacting you.

The "Slouch" posture habit identifies you as someone who doesn't necessarily live an inactive and sedentary lifestyle but tends to slouch their bodies habitually.

Slouching your body (The Slouch) can occur while in a sitting and a standing position and can lead to a host of severe structural health concerns in the short and long term.

In today's modern world, "The Slouch" Posture Habit is becoming more and more prevalent. What makes slouching so problematic is how common it has become. Most people don't notice themselves slouching, and in many cases, couldn't tell if someone else was slouching as well.

The "Slouch" can result from so many different behaviours. But some of the most common are extended periods of sitting or driving, lack of upper body strength, and weak core muscles. Another cause of The "Slouch" posture habit is over-tiredness, fatigue, and stress. Other causes are poor footwear and poor sleep posture, and one of the most surprising causes is poor quality furniture.

Keep in mind if your Posture Habit is The "Slouch," the symptoms of this posture habit are extensive and varied, with some of the first warning signs being back pain, nagging aches, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip and knee pain, headaches, and migraines.

Considering how wide-ranging the symptoms can be, it's strongly advised that you speak to a qualified posture and spine expert for a personalized assessment.

Three Tips to Help You Improve Your Posture and Reduce Aches and Pain

1.

Make your workstation ergonomically correct. If you spend most of your day behind a desk, this is one of the easiest things you can do (and you will thank me you did - the difference can be unbelievable.) If you work at a desk, look online and learn how to adjust your chair to your body. Ensure your monitor or screen is directly eye level, keep your keyboard directly in front of you, and close to your body.

2.

Lie flat on the ground for three to five minutes once a day without any cushions or support. When you do, allow your body to relax, this simple exercise can help your body realign and readjust to its natural resting position.

3.

Use a pillow when sitting down to provide extra support. Whether you're sitting in the living room, at a desk, or in a deep comfy chair, you can improve your posture by placing a pillow behind your lower back or by sitting on a cushion to reduce slouching.

One thing I've learned over time is the healthiest individuals (in most cases) are those who have the best habits. Whether those are fitness habits, eating habits, or "Posture Habits." Basically, it's the little things that make a massive difference over time.

Good habits are incredible, and they empower you to create and maintain a healthy lifestyle, but bad habits are often more powerful. Why? Because, unlike good habits, they often require little work and are easy to fall into.

The problem is these simple Posture Habits can cause you severe, long-term pain, aches, and discomfort. Pain and discomfort you might already be experiencing and living with. The problem is most people never realize their posture, or maybe some trauma that leads to similar structural problems.

But no matter what poor posture, back pain, neck pain or other structurally related symptoms you're dealing with, there is a solution.
